Emerald "Bud" Hansen

Emerald Herman “Bud” Hansen, 92, of Hampton, Nebraska died Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at Westfield Quality Care in Aurora. A memorial service will be held at United Lutheran Church in Hampton on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Miles Ruch officiating. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to the family, and condolences may be sent to the family at www.soltwagnerfuneral.com. Bud was born on June 12, 1926 in York, NE to John Herman and Olga Marie (Madsen) Hansen. He was baptized on July 11, 1926, and confirmed May 12, 1943 at Immanuel Lutheran Church north of Hampton. He graduated from Hampton High School in 1943. He was proud to be a member of the 1942 State Basketball Team. He served his country in the United States Army from December 1946 to August 1947. He was stationed in Japan for a short time. On June 27, 1948, he was united in marriage to Maxine Wolff in Aurora. They lived in Lincoln, Hastings, and Grand Island, before moving to Hampton in 1963. Bud had many jobs over the years including – Omar Bakery, Allstate Insurance, Stan Allen Motors, Hampton Coop, Ericksen Sales and Service, and was the custodian at the Hamilton County Courthouse until he retired in 1999. He was an active member of his church and held many offices. He loved playing golf and was an avid Husker football fan and Hampton Hawk supporter. He enjoyed having coffee with his friends at the C-Store. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 70 years, Maxine of Hampton; three children, Carla Land of Aurora, Brad (Pam) Hansen of Lincoln, and Sharon (Dean) Klute of Hampton; 10 grandchildren, Janet (David) May of Henderson, Heather Land of Aurora, Derick (Katie) Land of Aurora, Dustin (Bailey) Land of Colorado, Destiny Land of Aurora, Lindsey Hansen of Atchison, KS, Nolan Hansen of San Diego, CA, Kendra (Josh) Betz of Pewaukee, WI, Kyle (Lauran) Klute of Omaha, and Kelsey (Justin) Harders of Cairo; 12 great grandchildren, Rylee and Cole Miller, Wyatt and Breanna Telford, Lillie and Dalton Land, Adelyn, Owen, and Liana Betz, Jonathan and Graham Klute, and Oliver Harders; 2 brothers, Neil (Jackie) Hansen of Kansas City and Larry (Euni) Hansen of Hampton, a sister, Janelle Petersen of Omaha and a sister-in-law, Carolynn Wolff of Aurora; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters – Evelyn, Frances, Lorraine, and Donna; two brothers-in-law – Gerald Wolff and Lavern Wolff, one sister-in-law – Roberta Wolff and one nephew – Russell Kamtz.
