Mary Cathryn Truesdell

Mary C. Truesdell, 77, of Clarks, died on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at Litzenberg Memorial Long Term Care in Central City, Nebraska. A Catholic Mass Memorial Service will be on¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬ Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Central City Cemetery. Mary was born on June 1, 1941 to Clarence and Elvine (Jensen) Lahowetz in St. Paul. Mary and her family lived in St. Paul till she turned five at which time they relocated to Omaha for a short time. Her family eventually moved to Clarks where Mary graduated from Clarks Public Schools in 1960. Mary worked as a telephone operator for Clarks Telephone Company and Lincoln Telephone and Telegraph Company. Mary was married to Clarence Stuart in Clarks on June 17, 1961. To this union Shirley and William (Bill) Stuart were born. The family lived in Central City. Mary worked for Central City Public Schools and Central Scale. She moved to Blair in 1979 and then later moved to Omaha where she worked for Paine Webber and later First National Bank of Omaha where she remained for 13 years until her retirement in 1998. Mary also kept busy working part time at the Westroads Hallmark Store and at Grandmothers Restaurant. On May 27, 1995 Mary was united in marriage to Robert (Bill) Truesdell in Omaha. The couple eventually moved to Clarks in 1998. While living there Mary worked for J&J TV and Appliance as the bookkeeper. She sold Avon for five years and also worked in the kitchen cooking for High Plains Community Schools in Clarks. Mary loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and other family and friends. She loved going to her grandchildren’s activities. Mary enjoyed sewing, crafts, baking and playing cards. She was a member and officer of Parents without Partners in Grand Island and Omaha for 10 years. While at First National Bank of Omaha, Mary helped organized the Christmas Crafts Shows to raise money for needy families, was on the Quality Council Board for the merchant division, walked in Omaha’s yearly corporate cup run/walk with the bank, and bowled on one of the women’s teams for the bank. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Bill; children, Shirley (Mark) Monroe of Fullerton, NE; and Bill (LaVon) Stuart of Central City, NE; children -Rob (Amy) Truesdell, and Chris Albrecht and Ron Bowman all of Omaha; siblings, Larry (Linda) Lahowetz of Holdrege, and Clare (Gene) Wollenberg of Littleton, CO; sister in law- Lois Lahowetz of Omaha, NE; 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by; her parents; one son- John Truesdell; siblings, , Joanne Rankin, Jimmy Lahowetz , Tom Lahowetz; brother in law- Jack Rankin.
