Anthony J. Poloncic

Anthony Joseph Poloncic 68, of Central City died on Sunday, April 10, 2016 at his home in Central City. Celebration of Life services will be on Saturday, April 16th at 1:00 p.m. at Solt-Wagner Funeral Home in Central City. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.soltwagnerfuneral.com. Anthony Joseph was born on July 17, 1947 to Anthony Ferdinand and Patricia (O’Leary) Poloncic in Omaha, Nebraska. Tony attended school in Omaha. Following his schooling, he entered the United States Air Force in August of 1965 and served his country during Vietnam until November of 1968. Tony then moved back to Omaha and in 1970, he married Mary Nell. Tony was the head mechanic for various bowling centers in Omaha. In 1990 Tony moved to Central City where he began managing Central City Lanes until 1994. On October 26, 1991 Tony married Connie Faye Green in Central City. He worked briefly at Bonnavilla Homes in Aurora. From the late 90’s until the early 2000’s, he worked at Westside Lanes in Grand Island. He then began to work at the VA Med Center in Grand Island in the Maintenance Department, until his health would no longer allow him to work, forcing him to retire in 2005. In his spare time, Tony loved to fish and bowl. He even bowled a perfect game. He especially enjoyed his family, Cubs baseball, and Philosophy. Tony was a member of Nebraska Catfisherman’s Association; and the last few years of his life was a snowbird, spending his winters in Arizona. Those left to cherish his memory are; his wife – Connie Faye Poloncic of Central City; his children - Alexander (Tina) Poloncic of Central City, Raymond (Tiffany) Poloncic of Omaha, Nicholas (Nicholas) Paul of Omaha, Brandon Paul of Central City, Amber (Brandon) Hain of Central City, Joseph (Meagan) Poloncic of Grand Island, and Chelsea Paul of Central City; his siblings – Mike Poloncic, Trish (Jim) Mantish, Tim (Kim) Poloncic, John (Michelle) Poloncic all of Omaha, and Mark (Sherry) Poloncic of Crescent, IA; and 8 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his first wife – Mary Poloncic; his father in law and mother in law – LeRoy and Fayetta Green; sister in law – Sherry Johnson; his brother in law and sister in law – David and Carlene Brondel.
