Dennis Alfred Dankert

Dennis Alfred Dankert, 68, of Central City, died Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Central City Care Center. Funeral services will be Monday, July 6, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. at Solt-Wagner Funeral Home (downtown location) with Pastor Kevin McReynolds officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 5 to 7 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Central City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the family or American Legion Post #6. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.wagnerfuneral.com. Dennis was born on March 31, 1947 to Alfred and Eleanor (Fleischacker) Dankert in Palmer, Nebraska. He grew up in the Chapman, Palmer area and attended Zion Lutheran School in Worms, Nebraska. He then attended Central City Schools graduating in 1965. Dennis went on to Milford Tech studying Auto Mechanics. Dennis entered the United States Army on January 17, 1967 and was honorably discharged on December 23, 1968. He married Dianne Koester on March 8, 1970 in Deshler, Nebraska. After serving his country, Dennis moved to Central City where he began working for Larsen Chevrolet as a mechanic. He was then employed at White Implement, John Deere, and finally drove a truck for Ed Holtorf. Dennis enjoyed model trains, collecting John Deere Toys, belt buckles, guns, and model cars. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and watching his grandkids and great grandkids grow and play. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Central City. He was baptized and confirmed in the Zion Lutheran Church in Worms. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #6 and the Central City Eagles Club. Dennis is survived by two sons- Dana Dankert and Sarah Baney of Columbus, NE; Dennis and Tamara Dankert of Chapman, NE; one daughter - Dawn Dankert of Central City, NE; one brother - Ron and Shelly Dankert of Central City, NE, three sisters - Betty and Clint Hensen of Aurora, NE, Dee Sautter of Aurora, NE, and Carol and Bill Wilcox of Central City, NE; Grandchildren - Kelsie (Karl) Kasperbauer, Jessie Spencer, Samantha Dankert, Hope Redmond, Austyn Redmond, Fayth Redmond, Bryan Redmond, Landon Sautter; Great grandchildren - Zane Kasperbauer and Bristyn Kasperbauer; Nieces and Nephews and many more family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife- Dianne, grandson- Cameron Dankert; brother in law - Harold Sautter; niece Lori Sautter.
