Donna Marie Carpenter

Donna Marie Carpenter, 78, of Central City died on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at St Elizabeth’s in Lincoln. Memorial Services will be Saturday, December 16, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Central City United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Clyde Carpenter officiating. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to each person’s individual church’s education program and condolences may be sent to the family at www.soltwagnerfuneral.com. Donna was born on March 7, 1939 to Leonard and Augusta (Leu) Rakowsky in Battle Creek, Nebraska. She grew up in Battle Creek, attended a Lutheran school, and graduated from Battle Creek High School. After graduation she attended community college in Norfolk for two years. Donna married Donald Wichman and Ron Hedlund. She then married Rev. Dr. Clyde Carpenter on June 7, 1987 in Osmond, NE. Donna served as assistant pastor in the then Custer Parish comprised of United Methodist Churches in Broken Bow, Anselmo, Myrna, Berwyn, Ansley and Westerville. She and her husband, Clyde, moved to Northern Nebraska in 1995. Donna served Boyd and Knox Parish and lived in Niobrara. Donna retired in July of 2004, her successor had a stroke and Donna went back to serve there again for 15 months before moving to Central City. In her retirement she served as quarter time pastor for Chapman United Methodist Church. Donna and Clyde had a blended family and considered them all alike. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband; Clyde, children; Marcia (David) Prahl of Torrinton, WY, Dianna (Randy) Novotny of Omaha, Dean Wichman of Battle Creek, Steve (Donna) Wichman of Central City and Susan (Jerry) Paup of Central City, NE; Brett Hedlund of California, Lance Hedlund of Lincoln, Carl (Kathy) Carpenter of Kerrville TX, Michele (Dennis) Spaulding of Buffalo, NY, Scott (Sandra) Carpenter of Fayetteville, GA, Eric Carpenter of Atlanta, GA, and Janice (David) Weidner of Sioux Falls, SD; Christy (Justin) Nichols of Curtis, NE; one brother- Douglas Rakowsky of Battle Creek,NE; many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceeded in death by her parents, her husband -Ron Hedlund, and her son, Michael Wichman; one great granddaughter- Addison Grace Djernes.
