Hilda E. Burke

Hilda E. Burke, 87, of Central City, died Tuesday, March 25, 2003, at Litzenberg Memorial County Hospital in Central City. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 27, at 11:00 A. M. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Central City with the Reverend Brad Rick officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Lutheran Churchyard Cemetery in Glenvil. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 26, from 5 to 7 P.M. at Wagner Funeral Home in Central City. Memorials are suggested to the family and condolences may be sent to the family at www.wagnerfuneral.com. Hilda was born August 16, 1915 in Hastings, Nebraska to R. K. and Sophie (Stamer) Hinrichs. She grew in Hastings and received her education there. She was united in marriage to Richard (Dick) Burke on November 30, 1942 at Myrtle Beach, S.C. The couple lived in North Carolina, Germany, Hastings, and Central City. Hilda was employed by the American Legion, the Central City Mall and the Lincoln Manor. Mrs. Burke was a member of St Paul’s Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, playing cards and viewing the birds outside her back window, watching Tiger Woods, and she loved her grandchildren. Survivors include her two daughters, Sue Ausbun and friend, Darrell Hellbusch, of Fullerton, NE; Pati and husband Deryl Hilligas of Hampton, NE; one son, Ric and wife Cyndee Burke of Eagan, MN; a special grandson, Toby Ausbun and friend, Rhonda Grape and daughters of Columbus, NE; seven other grandchildren, Christine Rouse, Sheri Farris, Angela Burke, Ashley Burke, Tyler Burke, Ryan Hilligas and Troy Hilligas; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Paul and Donna Hinrichs of Hastings, NE; five sisters, Alice and Tex Gordon, Irma Hunt, Nellie and Gail Wright, Jerry and Pete Peterson all of Hastings, NE; and Corky and Bob Quirk of Lincoln, NE; and a sister-in-law, Zelma Hinrichs of Hastings, NE. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dick, one son, Butch Burke, and a brother, Ed Hinrichs.
