Clarence A. “Stu” Stuart, 77, of Central City, died on Friday, January 22, 2016 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. Celebration of Life gathering will be on Saturday, January 30, 2016 from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Central City Community Room. Memorials are suggested to the Heartland Veteran’s Memorial in Central City. Solt-Wagner Funeral Home of Central City is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.soltwagnerfuneral.com. Clarence A. Stuart was born to Dick and Nettie (Everett) Stuart on October 2, 1938. He lived his whole life in Central City and graduated from Central City High School in 1957. He then enlisted into the United States Army, serving his country from 1958 until his honorable discharge in 1960. Stu enjoyed spending time with his children; Shirley and Bill, until he found his best friend, Sylvia Boyd, whom he married on November 25, 1978. They shared their lives together for 38 years. This union added to the family, Michelle, Troy, and John Flodman. After being employed at various jobs in Central City, Stu and Sylvia purchased Freelend Greenhouse where Stu’s passion for horticulture thrived. Throughout Stu’s life he was a member of the Central City Volunteer Fire Department for 23 years. Stu’s passion for fishing, lead to South Padre Island during winter months following his “retirement” from the greenhouse. Stu also enjoyed hunting, card playing, the greenhouse, and spending time with his family. Survivors of the immediate family include; his wife, Sylvia of Central City; his children, Shirley (Mark) Monroe of Fullerton, Bill (LaVon) Stuart of Central City, Michelle (Jess) Kaiser of Blair, and John (Christina) Flodman of Central City; sisters; Mary Stuart of Central City and Vivian Dethloff of Grand Island; sister-in-law, Marianna Stuart of Beatrice; 12 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by; his son, Troy Flodman; his brothers, Robert (Audrey) Stuart, Marvin Stuart, Alfred (Jackie) Stuart, Tony (Pat) Stuart, and Harry Stuart; his sisters, Rose (Lorrel) Branting and Barbara Stuart; and his brother-in-law, Sheldon Dethloff.
