Darrell "Andy" Anderson Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Darrell Lee “Andy” Anderson, 79, of Palmer died Monday, July 27, 2015, at Bryan Medical Center East in Lincoln. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Solt-Wagner Funeral Home (downtown) in Central City. Pastor Dwight Sandoz will be officiating. Condolences can be sent to the family at www.wagnerfuneral.com. Mr. Anderson was born Aug. 30, 1935, in Grand Island to Carl and Edna Bertha (Schlie) Anderson. Andy grew up in Wolbach and worked on his family’s farm until he decided to join the United States Army. After serving his country, Andy met and married Arlys Sherman on July 7, 1961. After they got married, Andy and Arlys lived in Grand Island, Dannebrog, St. Paul and Palmer. He worked at Aurora Co-op in Wood River for over 20 years, retiring in 2014. Andy enjoyed hunting, fishing, horses and racing his car, but most importantly he loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Dennis (Kathy) Anderson of Corpus Christi, Texas, Douglas (Barb) Anderson of Grand Island, Diana (Pete) Hill of Palmer, and Darrell M. (Renae) Anderson of Magnolia, Texas; his four sisters, Shirley Martens of Grand Island, Sharon (Maurice) Jemison of Giltner, Roberta (Clyde) Glines of Central City and Betty (Roger) Mayben of Aurora; a brother, Eugene Anderson of Grand Island; and 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Arlys; his parents, Carl and Edna Bertha Anderson; a brother, Richard Anderson; an infant brother, Robert Anderson; a sister, Mary Martin; and a brother-in-law, Harry Martens.
