Dwain A Wegner

Dwain A. Wegner, 88, of Central City, formerly of Archer, died Friday, December 12, 2014, at Litzenberg Memorial County Hospital in Central City. Funeral services will be Thursday, December 18, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Archer Zion United Methodist Church with Reverend Janet Burgel officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 17, 2014 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Wagner Funeral Home in Central City. Burial will be in the Archer Evangelical Community Cemetery. Dwain was born on May 21, 1926 in Archer, Nebraska to Albert A. and Anna (Weller) Wegner. He grew up in Archer and graduated from Archer High School in 1944. He was united in marriage to Phyllis F. Gilson on June 18, 1950 in Archer, NE. The couple lived in Archer, where Dwain also farmed. Phyllis died on October 26, 2003. Dwain retired from farming and moved to Central City. Dwain served on the Archer School Board as President, and served as President of the Archer Evangelical Community Cemetery Board (EUB) for over thirty years. He did dairy, custom chopped silage, operated a gopher bait machine, and grass drills for the NRD. He enjoyed playing slow pitch softball in Central City. Earlier he played on Archer’s baseball team. He sold and distributed Archer Oil Products for many years. He also enjoyed playing cards, watching wrestling on TV, and visiting cousin’s homes in the evening. Dwain went on Sunday drives with his family, driving as far as he could in one day, then driving back home. He loved sightseeing and visiting friends and family. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Terry (Janet) Wegner of Wolbach, NE, two daughters and sons-in-law, LaNelle (Keith) Oney of Alma, KS; and Rogalyn (Michael) Peters of Central City, NE, seven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren, four nieces, and three nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Phyllis Wegner, one infant granddaughter- Mindy Wegner, brother, Randall Wegner, and sister, Darlene Kuhn.
