Gerald Edward Carlson Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Gerald E. Carlson, 85, of Lincoln, Nebraska, died Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Holmes Lake Manor in Lincoln. Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 23 at 11 a.m. at Solt-Wagner Funeral Home in Central City with Pastor Mark Hartley officiating. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in the Mamre Church Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the family and condolences may be sent to the family at www.soltwagnerfuneral.com. Gerald was born on May 22, 1931 at Hordville NE to Arvid and Clara (Ortegren) Carlson. He grew up in the Hordville area and attended Hordville public school graduated in 1949. He attended Nebraska Central College in Central City and graduated from NE Wesleyan University in 1952 with a AB degree. In June of 1952 he enlisted in the Air Force and was given an Honorable discharge in 1956. He began teaching school in 1956 he did this for several years. He also did Social Work in various hospitals. He leaves 4 children Cathie and Ed Smetter Lincoln,NE; Jerry and Pat Carlson Mead, NE; Cheri and Tracy Truax of Davey NE; and Jeannette Carlson of Valparaiso NE; 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Erma Habe, his brother Glen Carlson.
