Loyal O. Ruhl, Jr., 95, of Central City, died May 1, 2018 at home in Central City. Funeral services will be on Monday, May 7, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Solt-Wagner Funeral Home in Central City with Pastor Curtis Cooper officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday, May 6th from 5-7 p.m. at Solt-Wagner Funeral Home. Burial will be held at the Westlawn Cemetery in Grand Island on Monday, May 7th at 2 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Heroes Flight, as well as to the family. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.soltwagnerfuneral.com. Loyal was born January 22, 1923 in Ord, Nebraska to Loyal Ruhl, Sr and Ida (Rice) Ruhl. He attended Grand Island Public Schools and graduated from Grand Island Senior High in 1942. Loyal served in the United States Army from 1942-1945 and served during World War II and the Battle of the Bulge. Loyal married Clarice Stoppkotte, in 1946. To this union five children were born. On February 1, 1968, Loyal and Clara Brokaw were united in marriage, in Central City. Loyal was employed by Kruz Electric and later by the City of Central City, where he retired in 1985 as Superintendent of the Electrical Department. Loyal was an avid hunter and fisherman. He especially enjoyed retirement on the acreage, restoring old cars and tractors. He also enjoyed collecting and restoring antiques. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Clara. 4 daughters; Karen Davis, Lincoln, Diane (Dean) Duncan, Ravenna, Kimberly (Todd) Reimers, Cairo, and Lori Jensen, Cairo. 1 son, Charles Ruhl, Fairbury. Step-Children; Connie Dettman, Central City, Larry Brokaw, Mullen, Cindy Hines, North Platte and Terry Brokaw, North Platte. Step son in law, Darrell Widman, Chapman. 22 Grandchildren, 9 Step Grandchildren, 37 Great-grandchildren, 25 step Great Grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren and 5 step great-great grandchildren. One sister, Bonnie Smaha, Grand Island. Preceded in death by; Parents, Brother, Raymond Ruhl, Step children; Twila Widman and Rick Brokaw and one grandson.
