Mae “Mamie” Blank, 92, of Central City, died, Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Cottonwood Estates in Central City. Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Community Bible Church in Central City with Pastor Janet Burgel and Pastor Dale Janzen officiating. Visitation will be prior to the funeral service on Wednesday from 9 – 11:00 a.m. A luncheon will follow the funeral at the church. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery near Palmer at 2:00 p.m. Wagner Funeral Home in Central City is assisting the family with the arrangements. Mamie was born on August 6, 1921, in Archer, Nebraska to Frank H. and Anna (Retzlaff) Wegner. She grew up in Archer and received her education there. She was united in marriage to Elmer C. Blank on November 23, 1939 at her parent’s home near Archer. The couple lived in the Archer and Palmer vicinity, where Mamie enjoyed being a farm wife for thirty plus years before moving to Central City. While living there, she was an Avon Representative for over 35 years. Mamie was a member of Archer Zion United Methodist Church. She enjoyed working many kinds of puzzles, reading, and playing cards. Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Jayne Blank of Grand Island, NE; three step- grandchildren, nine step-great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren, a brother, Dale and Helen Wegner of Archer, NE; a sister-in-law, Janelle Kanter of Norfolk, NE; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Elmer Blank, a son, John Blank and a nephew, Rodney Kanter. Memorials are suggested to the family to be used towards the local Relay for Life in memory of Mamie and John Blank and condolences may be sent to the family at www.wagnerfuneral.com.
