January 18, 1921 - May 28, 2017

Margaret Killham, 96, of Central City, died Sunday, May 28, 2017 at Central City Long Term Care. Funeral Services will be on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Solt-Wagner Funeral Home with Pastor Curt Cooper officiating. Visitation will be Friday, June 2 from 5-7 p.m. at Solt-Wagner Funeral Home in Central City. Burial will be at Central City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.soltwagnerfuneral.com. Sarah Marguerite Jenness was born January 18, 1921 in Islandton, South Carolina to Claude Elmer Jenness and Sarah Elizabeth Godley. Margaret grew up in South Carolina and graduated from Hendersonville High School in 1939 where she participated in many class plays. After High School, she worked at the Naval Hospital in Charleston, South Caroline, where she met her husband, George Killham, who was serving in the Seabees during World War II. The couple was married in Central City, Nebraska on June 8, 1945. They lived their entire married life of 53 years in Central City. To this marriage were born four children; Richard, Dan, Kathy and Dennis. Margaret enjoyed working as a waitress at the Black Cat Café and Central Café. Margaret was an active member of the First Christian Church in Central City for over 50 years. She served as president of the Dorcas Circle and on several other Church committees. Margaret was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and loved selling Poppies on Veterans Day. She also did volunteer work at the Blood Mobile and Thrift Shop. Her hobbies included playing cards, fishing, gardening, and planting flowers in her yard. She is survived by her son Richard (Pam) Killham of Cookeville, TN; her daughter Kathy (Randy) Wegner of Archer, NE; daughter-in-law, Joleen Killham of Lincoln, NE; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Alford and Carol Killham of Grand Island, NE; sister-in-law Shirley Hilligas of Grand Island, NE; 7 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, George; two sons, Dan and Dennis; one grandson, Colby Wegner; her parents; and siblings, James, Jethro, Johnny Mae, Kathryn and infant sister, Betty.
