Marjorie “Marge” Thompson, 83, of Aurora, formerly of Archer, Nebraska died Thursday, April 23, 2020 at Westfield Quality Care in Aurora. Marge was born on May 18, 1936 to Fred and Fannie (Smith) Rieks in Marshalltown, Iowa. She grew up in Iowa and graduated from Iowa Falls High School in 1955. After graduation she attended Art School in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She then married Wayne “Butch” Thompson on August 10, 1956 in Iowa Falls, Iowa. The couple lived in Hampton, IA, Baltimore, MD and then moved back to Archer, Nebraska in January of 1967. Marge enjoyed working at a local shop owned by Phyllis Brown and Sandra Ohlman call Ribbon, Roses, and Lace. Marge enjoyed working there so much she never considered it work. Marge was a thirty year member of the Alanon Family Group. She was incredibly gifted at baking cookies. She not only baked cookies for friends and family, but turned it into a business. She enjoyed traveling with Butch by car or airplane to various destinations. She even traveled with him when he took loads in his semi truck. Marge enjoyed time at their cabin in Branson, Missouri where they would fish and boat. She loved watching the kids ski and do outdoor activities. She is survived by her husband, Butch of Central City, NE; one son, Ronald Thompson of Archer, NE; one daughter, Terrie and Cody Conner of Kearney, NE; four grandchildren and many great grandchildren; two nieces, Elaine Ford of Columbia, MO and Grace Schuller of Marshalltown, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; and two sisters.
