Shirley Ann McDonald

March 12, 1947 - June 12, 2022

Shirley A. McDonald, 75, of Central City, who loved to be called “MOM” by her kids, departed her loving family on June 12, 2022. The family has chosen a private family service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later time. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.soltwagnerfuneral.com. Shirley was born in Grand Island, Nebraska on March 12, 1947 to Virgil and Fern (Sallinger) Cole. Shirley married Kenneth (Ducker) McDonald on October 22, 1971. They were able to celebrate 50 years of marriage last year. She was a mother to Renee, Wendy, Melissa, and Dawn. Shirley and Kenneth (Ducker) raised their children with love and devotion in Central City. Shirley worked at Redman’s, Valley View Country Club, Lincoln Manor Steak House, Arjo, and Pump and Pantry. Her hobbies included flower gardening, camping with the grandchildren, crafting, and being a Girl Scout Leader. Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband and caregiver, Kenneth (Ducker) McDonald; her daughters, Renee (Jim) Gavin of Clay Center, NE, and Dawn McDonald of Council Bluffs, IA; her sister, Dorothy Santos of Grand Island, NE; sister-in-law, Sue (Louie) Brunken of Clarks, NE; brothers-in-law, Robert McDonald, Larry (Nancy) McDonald all of Aurora, NE, John McDonald, and Timothy McDonald both of Central City, NE; her grandchildren, Chantal McDonald, Dimitri McDonald, Jessica McCarroll, Kendra McCarroll, Nathan Collier, Brittany Kusek, Kristopher Meahan, Andrew Johnston, Brianna Johnston; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughters, Wendy McCarroll and Melissa Johnston; and her in-laws, Lyle and Wilma McDonald.
