Steven D. Blase

Steven D. Blase, 64, of Genoa, died on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 7, 2022 at 1 p.m. at Augustana Lutheran Church in Genoa with Rev. Adam Klinkner officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 7th from 11 a.m. until service time. Interment will be held at the Valley View Cemetery in Genoa. Steven Duane Blase was born on May 29, 1957 to Duane and Joyce (Klingsporn) Blase in Grand Island. Steve grew up in the Hordville area, and graduated from Hordville High School in 1975. Following his graduation he attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and graduated with his Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Economics in 1979. Steve then moved to Broken Bow where he worked for a while before moving to Genoa. While in Genoa, Steve worked for Tri-Valley Co-op until moving to Atkinson to work at Koch Agri-Business. Steve then moved back to Genoa and began working for Preso-X until his health began to fail. He then received his Associate’s Degree in drafting. Unfortunately he wasn’t able to work much after that, but he was able to continue his paper route for many years. Steve was a member of the Augustana Lutheran Church in Genoa, and was a very active member. He was also a member of the Lion’s Club, as well as serving on the Genoa Volunteer Fire Department and EMT. Steve was a tinkerer, he loved to try and build or put together things. He also loved animals, especially his cats. Those left to cherish his memory are his children; Stephanie Blase of Columbus, Erin (Cassie) Blase of Grand Island, his grandchildren; Travis Blase and Brooke Nielsen of Genoa, and Maylee and Maggie Blase of Grand Island, his mother; Joyce Blase of Hordville, and his siblings; Cindi (Joel) Anderson of Polk, Ron (Donna) Blase of Grand Island, and Melanie (Terry) Bender of Hordville. He was preceded in death by his wife; Donna Blase and his father; Duane Blase.
