Solt -Wagner Funeral Home 1507 17th Street Central City, Nebraska 68826 308-946-3095 308-946-3303 Wallace “Wally” LaVern Lind, 86, of Polk, Nebraska died Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at Bryan LGH East in Lincoln, Nebraska. Funeral services will be Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 10:30 A.M. at Polk United Methodist Church in Polk with Pastor Dan Spearow officiating. Visitation will be Friday, August 5, 2016 at Solt-Wagner Funeral Home in Polk from 5 to 7 P.M. Burial will be in the Swede Plain Cemetery near Polk. Memorials are suggested to the Swede Plain Cemetery, Polk United Methodist Church or the Polk Senior Center. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.soltwagnerfuneral.com. Wally was born on December 18, 1929 to Harvey and Alvena (Anderson) Lind in Polk, Nebraska. He grew up in the Polk area and attended District 26 through the 8th grade. He then attended and graduated from Polk High School in 1948. Wally married Thelma Rystrom on April 18, 1954 in the Stromsburg United Methodist Church. He participated in athletics in his younger years and then enjoyed attending High Plains and Nebraska Cornhusker football and basketball games. He enjoyed going to State Basketball Tournaments. Wally drove a ready-mix truck for Overland Sand and Gravel from 1973 to 1983. He also farmed his entire life, even driving the combine for last year’s harvest. Wally had many friends and enjoyed spending time with his family. Wally was a board member of the Swede Plain Cemetery. He was a past member of the American Legion in Polk. He was very active in the Polk Senior Center. Wally was a member of the Swede Plain United Methodist Church and later the Polk United Methodist Church. Wally is survived by his wife –Thelma of Polk, NE; one son- Loren (Deb) Lind of Polk, NE; one daughter- Leanne Lind of Polk, NE; two sisters – Norma Rodine of Stromsburg, NE and Marilyn Donelson of Central City, NE; He was preceded in death by his parents, brother in laws – Rolland Rodine and Dean Donelson.
