Norma Corrine Rodine

Norma C. Rodine, 92, of Stromsburg, formerly of Polk, died on Sunday, September 29, 2019 at Midwest Covenant Home in Stromsburg. Funeral services will be on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the Evangelical Free Church in Polk with Pastor Justin Smith officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 2nd from 5-7 p.m. at Solt-Wagner Funeral Home in Polk. Interment will be held at the Swede Plain Cemetery near Polk. Norma Corrine Lind was born on July 21, 1927 to Harvey L. and Alvena (Anderson) Lind in Stromsburg. Norma grew up in the Polk area, and graduated from Polk High School in 1944. On April 21, 1946 Norma married Roland Rodine at her parent’s home near Polk. They made their home just east of the family farm, and in 1957, they then moved to the “home place”. Norma and Roland remained there until 1987, when they moved to Polk. Norma was a member of the Evangelical Free Church in Polk. She served as a Sunday School Teacher and Superintendent for the church for many years. She was the President of the Polk WMS, which then led to her being the Secretary of the Eastern Division of WMS. She was a member of various clubs in the Polk area, including the Polk Women’s Club and was a leader of the Junior FCYF. Norma was very well known for her cooking, especially her butterhorn rolls. She was always willing to entertain, and everyone knew that there would be a hot pot of coffee on if they stopped by. She was also a big sports fan, and attended as many events as she could, especially when her grandchildren were participating. Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Dianne and Alfred L’Heureux of Polk, Donna and Michael Rhoades of Webster City, IA, and Duane and Brenda Rodine of Polk; her sister, Marilyn Donelson of Newman Grove, NE; her grandchildren, Jeremy (Ginger) L’Heureux, Jeff (Jamie) L’Heureux, Jacque (Matt) Wilkinson, Matthew (Wendy) Rhoades, Emily (Colin) Miloni, Allison Rhoades, Mikayla (Mitch) Johdal, Nick Rodine, Drew (Shauna) Rodine; and her great-grandchildren, Roland Rush, August and Oliver L’Heureux, Cora and Clara L’Heureux, Madeline Wilkinson, Charlotte and Harrison Rhoades, Roman Miloni, Brinli and Bryden Rodine. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one grandson, Derek Rodine; one infant great-grandson, Derek Wilkinson; and one brother, Wallace Lind.
